Playing as a team is one of the most difficult things a person can accomplish. You have to be able to depend on your teammates to do exactly what is expected of them. Likewise, they have to be able to depend on you. Each member of the team needs to be able to anticipate the other member's moves. A team is really multiple bodies that function as one. When your team achieves this, do they not deserve some recognition? So what if they did not win the championship? The players gave 110% and need to be recognized for their accomplishments. The finale of every sports season is the awarding of the trophies.

Playing in individual sports is just as difficult. It is all up to you. There is no one to back you up or to blame when something goes wrong. It comes down to just you and your opponent. Again, as an individual sport you need to be recognized for your accomplishments. A trophy or plaque is the perfect form of recognition. Something that you can keep and remember the season you had.
